Race For Life Update .. My pack arrived!!!!

Got home from the gym today to find that my Race for Life Pack had arrived!!! Cue a very excited Emma.
I immediately opened it to see what was inside: wrist bands for me and a supporter, sponsorship form, running number, personal message card and supporters message card! plus the best bit of all my varsity style Race for Life T-shirt, which I will be wearing to work tomorrow with pride!!

Cancer we're coming to get you!!
And now to see all the goodies inside! Clockwise, welcome card, I race for card, sponsorship form, running number and then wristbands (pink for me Blue for fiancé) Center is my supporters banner for the fiancé and family to brandish on the day.

All Pink, All Fabulous.
And finally the epic-ness (hehe) that is my varsity style Race for Life T!! navy blue with Pink glitter lettering!!! Totally wearing this for work tomorrow!!! Also now considering buying the varsity style tank top to actually run in.

Check me out!!
As for the training, its going ... not amazing right now as I need to start building up some stamina but I've got until july 7th to get myself ready! Hopefully the weather will improve soon (currently snowing) so both myself and fiancé can get some running done outside. Though we are considering joining a gym at the minute so that will mean a lot more training for me :) will keep you updated!

stupid mistake ..... stupid phone ....

Usually I would be singing my iPhones praises, however last night it seriously pissed me off. I had a software update so clicked to download it, thinking if I did it overnight then it wouldn't interfere with normal use. So after clicking to download a little verifying update message popped up, fiancé decided to do his too and clicked his update, now his went to download straight away saying it would be 2 minutes mine was still verifying. After a few minutes I decided something had gone amiss and turned my phone off to stop the process. I then turned my phone back on and all was well, this is where I should have stopped but because I didnt know what had gone amiss I stupidly clicked to do the download again. Next thing I know my phone is asking me to connect to my itunes and nothing would get rid of the message. At this point it is gone 12:00 and I was pissed off, plugged my phone in and itunes tells me that my phone is in restore mode and will be wiped to factory settings. Cue lots of swearing from me and lots of googling to see if there was anything else that could be done. See I hadn't backed up my phone in ages and couldn't remember how many pictures I had taken since the last back up. There was potential to loose some really important stuff :( sadly nothing could be done and I have had to restore my phone.

This should have been the end of my woe however when I clicked for the download my laptop said it would take 30 mins :( I prepared to wait and read a book while it downloaded. However started to notice that the time wasn't going down as it should .... then to my frustration it started to creep back up!! safe to say I was tired, pissed off to high heaven and about ready to call anyone connected with apple and shout expletives at them!! So I decided instead of waiting god knows how long for a download I unplugged my phone and just set the download going overnight.

This morning I have managed to restore my phone however much to my pain discovered that the last time I backed up my phone was 31st december :( so at this point I can only guess how many pictures I have lost from the intervening months. I know its my own fault as I should be backing up more often but unfortunately life gets in the way and now you dont have to plug in to update I dont have that failsafe. Any way now I am slowly trying to work out what pics I have lost and which ones I put into the drop box to transfer.

Rant Over. Now for any iPhone owners a tip, first make sure you do back up at least once a month and second make sure you back up before updating to the newest software just in case. It is better to be safe then sorry like me.

Pictures, Photos and Pinterest.

So as I have mentioned here before I love pictures!! I love taking them, editing them and finding new ones online. There are some amazing pictures out there.

I am so bad with pictures that I keep confusing the wedding photographers at the fairs hehe see we have already booked our photographer but some of these people have really amazing books for you to look at, and its nice to have a nosey at other peoples weddings see what they did. Plus its nice to get ideas for pics for our wedding.

Anyhoo tangent aside, as a result of my love of pictures and to try and promote my blog a bit more I decided to take a look at Pinterest. I wasn't overly keen when it first came out, I didn't quite see the point  but after taking a closer look at it and having a bit play yesterday I have embraced yet another social media application.

So if you fancy following my pins here I am:

Feel free to comment with your username if you are on Pinterest and I will look you up :)

Bloglovin ....

So having read a few different posts about google reader and bloglovin I have decided to "claim my blog" on bloglovin. Hence the following link.

Follow on Bloglovin

This will make it really easy for you to follow my blog, it also makes it easier to follow on the run as bloglovin has a really cute app which is dead simple to use. I am very new to blogging and have been using it for a few weeks to follow some really interesting blogs. Its handy because the format is specific for an app so no zooming in or out and you can get to the blogs you want with a simple click and flick.

Anyhoo if you feel like following me by all means click on the link above I would be thrilled to have you.

Cancer, We're coming to get you!! Race for Life!!!

So to try and motivate myself to really keep going with my new fitness kick, and having been inspired by the fiancé, I have decided to sign up for the Race For Life 5k in Durham!

So I have until July 7th to turn myself into a runner ...eek!! Now I know its not an especially long run however I am not a distance runner in the slightest! At school I hated anything over 200 metres, I was always a sprinter and have managed to avoid doing any running since year 9 when options allowed me to drop PE. So now I have to up my cardio work and move away from the bike and onto the treadmill!

Luckily I have a secret weapon ... the Fiancé. He is currently in training for the Great North Run and doing the Blaydon 10k in June as a warm up so I not only get a running buddy to train up with but also someone to give me tips that he's picked up.

If you want to sign up to a Race For Life in your area just go to raceforlife.org.uk and search using your postcode. If you want to donate to my race just look me up on Just Giving. If your feeling in an especially giving mood you could even look up the fiancé and donate to his Just Giving page for Breast Cancer Care.

I will keep you updated on my progress :D

Get ready .... Get set .... Go ....!

So every now and then, usually when I have some big task ie exams or right now applications, I decided that I need to get organised. Now I'm not saying that I'm unorganised, I keep a calendar in the kitchen and have all my stuff sorted and categorised on my laptop, but when it comes to certain events I feel the urge to get a more structured plan in place. I will admit this generally doesn't get followed very strictly but for the most part my previous attempts have been in relation to revision which I'm not overly fond of.
Having left Uni in the summer and found a job the need for a day to day Filofax disappeared. We got a calendar in the kitchen to write key dates on and Fiancés shifts but this isn't overly helpful when your out and you need to note a date down. Then recently I managed to double book us because Fiancé organised a training session and I didn't put it in my phone so I organised a hair appointment for the same time :s after this and after reading a friends blog about getting organised I decided it would be so much easier if we had a calendar that was shared across our devices.
After a quick google check I discovered that you can have more then one iCloud account loaded on a device, solution found and no need for a new app. Since its Fiancé's apple account thats logged into the iPad I decided to use his iCloud account, I added it to my phone and laptop then organised all the color tabs. Now when we need to put something in the calendar it appears on all our devices woo!

* Tip if your considering doing this make sure you only check the box to sync calendars for the additional devices unless you feel the need to receive all your partners emails and contacts.

After merging our electronic calendars and having another read of http://fizzypeaches.blogspot.co.uk/ blog about getting her self organised I have decided to resurrect my filofax. This is partly to keep my applications for pupillage straight and also because I think it will be useful as I get closer to the wedding. This is one area where I am beyond organised already, everything has a folder in my wedding file on the laptop, I have a hard copy file and loads of spread sheets for everything from guest list to budget. But as this is a major event to plan I feel that every organisational tool that I can put in place will help ensure that it keeps running smoothly.

In a final bid to become more organised I have decided to try an up my blogging. I have fallen away somewhat and would really like to post more, even if its just something little. So here goes. I will keep you updated on my progress.

Wedding fairs and Husky Trekking ....

So these past two weekends have been full ones.

On Saturday I went to a wedding fair in Harrogate with my two friends, both of whom are engaged and getting married in the next few months. It was rather amusing, all the vendors were asking who the bride was and looking rather stupefied when we responded ... "all of us". I think they thought we were having them on but it honestly just happens to be a coincidence that all three of us will be married in just over a year.

We had a rather hilarious trip in the end, the fair had a catwalk show which involved choreographed walking and twirling for the girls (pagent style) and co-ordinated boyband style dancing for the three male models. We were in hysterics at the lads, two of whom were more father of the bride and the third well his performance was more queeny then prince charming hehe The whole thing was set to loud pop music with strobe lighting and a voice over announcer. Whilst it was hilarious as an actual catwalk show to show you potential dresses at the different local shops it didn't do very well, they were all ill fitting and the models didn't suit them at all making us rather disinclined to visit the shops.

Whilst we were there I got to try on a really amazing dress, its a maggie sottero one and looked absolutely stunning. Which means I will now be taking a trip down to Harrogate with my mum to have another look at it and see what else they have at that particular shop. Dress shopping is so much fun I love getting to look through all the different dresses they have, some are hideous some hilarious and other simply divine. I would post some pictures but then that would be telling hehe

On the Sunday we went husky trekking, it was amazing!! My brother bought us it as a christmas gift and I would highly recommend it to anyone. We had an amazing day and I really want to go back and do it again, even if it was just to meet the huskies again hehe They were the cutest things ever and the actual trekking on the scooter was beyond fun. We got to meet all the ladies huskies who were thrilled to meet us and we even got to see some 12 day old pups who has only just started to open there eyes then meet the charming little lady below who was the cutest fluffiest puppy ever. She's only 4 weeks old and already strong as an ox. There were also three 4 month old pups who were just the bounciest little things in the world, two were entirely white and the other was red. One of the white ones is what they call a fluffy because they have thick long hair, he looked like a sheep all fluff funning around like a loon.

Is this not the cutest little girly in the world!!
Here are the adorable huskies who pulled my scooter for the trek.

Biscuit

After the trek we went to have a look at the ruins at Whitby but they had just closed so this was as close as we got. It was absolutely freezing and windy as hell, hence the fly away hair and fact I am wearing like four layers hehe

Cuddling up to the boy in the cold.
