Birthday boy!!!

Just a quick recap to celebrate my amazing Fiancé turnin 26 the other weekend. As part of his birthday treats I made him breakfast in bed, now this isn't much of a treat unless you factor in that I am never awake before him! See I am a night owl and he is an early bird. Being a baker and getting up a lot at 3:20 means that he finds it really hard to lie in, it reaches 8am and his body tells hime its time to get up, which if you think about it is a major lie in from 3:20.

So for his birthday I said I would get up and make him breakfast, which I did, even got to wake him up for a change hehe the breakfast consisted of a protein shake, cereal and bacon & fried egg sandwich with tea and juice!!

Doesn't it look yummy.
He was very happy when I walked in with a tray laden with food.

Happy Fiancé
We then both sat in bed and ate our breakfasts. After breakfast J decided it was time to open his haul of cards, so off he popped to collect them from the sideboard in the front room.

He didn't do too badly, £180 total which is great when you consider he's 26 and family money tends to stop or lower the older you get. After we finished breakfast it was time to divest Fiancé of his money so we popped up to the metrocentre. He got quite a nice haul, few new tops and some other bits of clothing. Fair to say he is now all clothed out for the foreseeable future.

Anyway fun was had all round and we had a lovely day out. After the metro we went out for a delicious dinner with my parents at a cute little restaurant in Durham. It was awesome and J decided to try something new, pan fried seabass with roasted salsify and celeriac purée.

Nails ... Nails .... Nails ...

Just a a short one today with a few little pics of my latest adventures in nail painting. First up I decided I wanted to try out something really bright so bought a NYC quick dry from the local chemist of all places in High Line Green.

I used this on both my fingers and toes. It looked really cool, bright and a funky clash with most of what I was wearing.  I wore this down to a family birthday but to mix it up a little for the meal out I decided to add a black crackle top coat.

I was't sure how it would look but it turned out awesome. The picture kinda blows out the colour, it wasn't quite as grunge in person. My mum on the other hand wasn't quite as keen she thought my nails looked a bit mouldy :s but hey I liked it.

Just to combine a couple of posts, as you may r may not know we have joined Bannatynes and as such we have been going swimming a lot. Swimming, long nails and nail varnish do not mix, here is the result of two trips to the pool ... eeek! As a result I have taken my nails a tad shorter then I would usually keep them to try and stop them bending as much when they are wet and soft.

So aside from psychedelic green I have been sporting a few other looks recently a couple of weeks ago I went natural and did a light french manicure just using my sparkle white and top coat, I dont like pink bases as they can look a bit fake.

I love this look but the white can tend to crack after a few days and get strange dark lines through it. I love how this look just enhances your natural nails which for me is great as my nails grow quite long.
Next up I borrowed a Nails Inc colour from my friend.

Not the best paint job as I was in a bit of a rush but this is there leather effect. I'm not sure how leather it looks but it was kinda cool. I love the grey colour and kinda like the dull effect it has. One thing I did discover about this sort of textured varnish is that its really distracting hehe I kept feeling up my own nails. Sitting at work running my thumbs over them and running them across my lip. This was also surprisingly easy to get off, I was expecting it to take ages like glitter but it didn't which was good. I hate having to spent ages trying to get your varnish off.

I have also bought a couple other new colours recently first up was a little pot of dark gold from H&M sale which I picked up because it looked cute and shiny hehe my last new colour is shade 13 from 2true at superdrug. I finally found the light grey I wanted woop woop. 2true is really nice as its not too expensive like the NYC ones so you can mix it up with a new colour without having to spend a fiver to find out you dont like it.

Thats all from me on nails for the minute but I will keep you updated if I try out anything else new or buy anything awesome hehe

Race for Life update!

So me and the fiancé have joined a gym!! We took the plunge and joined the local Bannatynes. Our friends have been members for a while now and they had some passes that would give fiends three days for £9. Once we went along we decided that it was actually a really nice health club, the gym has great machines, pool is a decent size and the classes look really good.

When we had a chat with one of the membership guys he told us that they had a deal going on. The standard one is that if you pay up front for either 6 or 12 months you can get a percentage off but as a special easter deal if you joined before the end of march you got april free on direct debit. The best deal for us was the direct debit as we dont have a lot of spare cash lying around so thats what we went with. We also got a booklet of deals & coupons and a gym starter kit, this normally costs £15 and actually turned out to be really useful.

So in our packs, the little drawstring bag, we got a really good water bottle, handy grey gym towel and a pair of over ear headphones (which the fiancé loves). The bag is a little small for us to use in general as we like to go to the gym then go for a swim so need space for a big towel and toiletries but the rest of the stuff is awesome. I'm considering buying another one of the towels in bright pink so I dont have to keep drying this one.
So after we decided to join the health club I realised that going to the gym several times a week meant that I would need a few sets of swim wear and gym wear neither of which I had. I had a few sets of swimwear but they were fairly old bikinis from when I was younger and going on holiday, the most I have recently used bikinis for is sun bathing and a single trip to centre parcs a few years ago. As for gym wear well I've not been a gym bunny so didn't really have anything to wear other then some long tanks and leggings. So I took a trip to sports direct and picked up a few new pieces, I love sports direct for sports gear we have bought so much stuff for the fiancé from there at great prices. Its especially good if you are only just starting out and dont want to spend a fortune or even if like us you are trying to save up for something. Anyway here is a quick snap of my purchases.

Bright pink and purple adidas racing back top (that matches my trainers lol), grey and pink nike racing back top, LA fitness crop top/sports bra in hot pink, purple grey and black sports bra and a LA fitness electric blue top with built in bra. Also picked up a new Lonsdale sports bag all for £44!! which is a massive bargain as some of the sports stuff I have seen is £20 - £30 for a top etc Only thing I think I need now is a pair of trackies to pull on over my leggings for those days when the english weather has decided to play up.

As for the swimwear I bought a couple of new pieces in Sainsburys when they has a 25% off sale. Got a really cute blue and white paisley 2 piece and a couple of tank style tops for those days when you dont want your tummy on show. Nearly bought the matching paisley swimsuit but they didn't have my size which was a bummer. After I bought them I decided to dig out my old stuff from my mams loft and discovered that actually a lot of it was still really nice and in good condition so I now have a surfeit of swimwear to choose from. To be fair some of it is probably more holiday appropriate as its not got the support for swimming lengths so its not too bad.

After I got my new bag the fiancé decided he really needed one. His grip isn't really the right shape and his holdall is a bit big for just him. He decided one a bit like mine would do so we went for another trip to sports direct (which is right next to the gym and went on both occasions before going to the gym) we were just going to have a look see what they had in the mens section when we found the exact bag in more colours. Bright baby pink, black with yellow writing, then the two favourites: light grey with orange and navy with white writing.

As you can see the navy won out. So now we are fully kitted out and have been attending the gym nearly 3 times a week, 4 on weeks when fiancé has training sessions.

Its going really well I tried running on the treadmill but it nearly killed me so I have been building my core strength up and as of saturday have started interval training. Fiancé is being my PT and controlling the speed, he's got me doing 5 intervals 2 mins walking and 2 jogging. First one went really well I wasn't pegging out by the end and even managed to push out a 6th jog to hit 2.70 km. I know thats not amazing but for me its an achievement as like I said I'm not a runner.

Anyway I will keep you updated with my progress and hopefully it wont be long before I'm ready to start properly training to run the whole 5k.

Pictorial Round Up.

This is a bit of a sweep up of things that I have missed and dont really fit in specific posts.

First up a new compilation shot of me and the fiancé using some pics from the photobooths at some of the wedding fairs. This is now currently sitting in our front room along with a trilogy shot of us. Fiancé says if I want to put up any more pics of us I need to start taking some down :( he says it will start to get a bit creepy hehe

Next up is our relatively new clock. This is currently hanging above our tv in the front room its awesome, about a foot and a half in diameter looks really retro next to our black and white New York canvas.

Speaking of pictures, canvases and walls I have been looking about on pinterest and decided I might like to turn the wall above our dinning table into a picture wall. But I'm not too sure about whether it will be too busy on the wall and make the room look small :s might have a mess about with fotoflexer to see what it might look like.

Next up some shots from my trip to work the other morning. Driving along at 10 to 7 being blinded by the light of a glorious sunrise. Really positive way to start the day getting bathed in sunlight.
Sun rising over the northeast
Glorious sight at 6:50!!

Told you it was bright and blinding, bit different to my winter drive to work where it was pitch black, then I felt like i was driving to work in the middle of the night. This particular morning I felt like sticking my sunnies on but seemed a bit silly considering the time of day hehe
Rocking the double skull scarves. Hair and neck!
When I got to the work car park I managed to get some great snaps. Love the juxtaposition between the frosted car roof and the blinding light cresting over the horizon.

The next was a pure fluke. When I looked down I spotted the fact that the sun had turned my car window into a perfect mirror. Had to grab the shot, its one of those pic's were you wish you had a better camera.

Love this shot! and loving my hair in this shot with the scarf.
Anyway that was my quick pictorial round up of the past few weeks.
